Karen Edwards

Karen Edwards grew up in northwest Iowa. She completed her B.A. degree at Luther College and her M.A. degree in Higher Education Administration at The University of Iowa. She has studied in Denmark and Malaysia and has traveled in Europe, Asia, Latin American and the Caribbean. Karen recently moved to Grinnell after 12 years directing International Student Affairs at The College of Wooster in Ohio. She is passionate about supporting international students in the US and has initiated several opportunities for advisor collaboration among small private liberal arts institutions. Her husband Jonathan is Associate Director of Admissions at Grinnell, coordinating international student recruitment. They have two boys, Dane (7) and Barrett (4).
Brenda Strong

Brenda Strong grew up in Brooklyn, Iowa and holds a degree from Iowa State University in Business Management. She has been working in the OISA since 1997 and has become a vital member of the team. She helps coordinate a variety of programs and services in addition to assisting with SEVIS compliance. Brenda is married to Scott Strong and they have two daughters, Miranda and Carissa.
Hanna L. Armstrong

A native of Poland, Hanna has taught Russian and Polish at OSU, ISU, and Grinnell. She has studied and worked in Poland, Russia, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. Hanna's work for the OISA is focussed on supporting the academic and cultural adjustment of students from abroad. She provides one on one support; coordinates a weekly English Language Coffee Hour; and offers support to our exchange students, language assistants and US global nomads. Hanna also works in the Academic Advising Office.
Jennifer Bieniek

Jennifer Bieniek grew up in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She received her B.A. Degree at North Dakota State University and her M.A. degree in Counseling specializing in Student Affairs Administration from South Dakota State University. In addition to her position as Residence Life Coordinator, she serves the OISA by coordinating the International Speakers Bureau (ISB) and advising the International Student Organization (ISO).
MQ Park '10

Minkyu (MQ) Park '10 is serving as OISA Student Liaison for 2008-09 and he is the editor of our newsletter, MOSAIC. He coordinates the international news rack (supported by OISA and CIS) in the Market Grill and helps support the International Speakers Bureau. MQ is majoring in Economics. He is serving as one of the pre-orientation assistants for the new international students this year. He is also involved in International Student Organization, Grinnell Economics Society, and Grinnell College Badminton Club.
