The Lilly Program recognizes that practical experience with the sort of work that one
might routinely be expected to perform is an invaluable tool in any consideration of
vocation, whether religious or secular. Accordingly, the Program is supporting
internships and externships as part of the college's regular internship program.
In general, the Lilly Program's internships and externships are run the same way as others. Internships are 8 weeks long, and available only to currenly enrolled students class of 2010 and 2011. Externships, which are open only to currently enrolled students finishing their first year class of 2012 (for whom internships are not available), are ordinarily 4 weeks.
Every religious group needs committed members who are leaders with vision and passion. Some of those leaders are ordained, but no religious organization can sustain itself without lay leaders. How would you like to be of service in the world? What would you like to learn about your own tradition? The Lilly Program offers you a unique opportunity to create an internship or externship, related to exploring your own vocation within a religious tradition or a denominationally related social justice opportunity. Got an idea? Come and talk about it with the Chaplain. You must speak with a member of the staff at the Career Development Office (1127 Park Street) in order to apply.
The application deadline is 4:00 P.M. Friday, April 3, 2009.
