GRINNELL COLLEGE TO CELEBRATE MLK DAY WITH SPECIAL EVENT
Grinnell College will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a special event on Mon., Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. in the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center, Room 101, on the Grinnell College campus.
The luminaria-lit commemoration will include a replay of the 1967 speech King delivered on the Grinnell campus and a slideshow of images from the Civil Rights Movement. King’s visionary Grinnell address, “Remaining Awake During a Revolution,” dramatically foreshadowed current world conflicts and domestic events.
The Grinnell observance, which is sponsored by the Rosenfield Program in Public Affairs, Human Rights, and International Relations, is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. The Rosenfield Center is located at 1115 8th Ave. on the Grinnell College campus.
