Pioneers Fall Short at Luther

The Grinnell College men's swimming and diving team was victorious in four individual events, but fell short at Luther, 136-87 on Friday night.

Nate Wittnam '09 won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 10:25.68 as Patrick Thomas '10 finished fourth (11:04.61). Garnet Smith '08 and Nick Smith '10 finished first and second respectively in the 1-meter diving, while Mark Sullivan '10 took fourth.

Kevin Wood '07 then picked up a victory in the 100 butterfly as he reached the finish line in 54.34. Dan Neely '09 took third for the Pioneers, while Glenn Clark '10 took sixth. Sean Warlick '08 added a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle (51.46) as Nate Kimball '07 won the 500 freestyle in 5:06.03. Mike Weslander '09 and Matt Remissong '08 finished the night for Grinnell by taking second and third respectively in the 100 breaststroke.

The team will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Carleton for a 12:00 p.m. meet.
